Seeding culture in new locations during hypergrowth
Theme:Coding Society

Hypergrowth doesn’t come easy. Even more so if you're two aspiring Tech Leads thrown in the deep end and asked to help open a new office. You can bet there will be drama, frustration, failure, confusion, but also accelerated learning and blissful success. One of the biggest challenges you’ll face will be building a strong, autonomous, team; a hurdle that requires you to step up as an Operator, Leader and Coach.

This is the story of how we helped scale our company to new heights and new locations, and the pitfalls and successes we gathered along the way. We’ll cover challenges in hiring, onboarding, forming teams and driving people, setting up processes while keeping the culture we had back home, dealing with distributed communication and creating buzz around our tech brand in Barcelona.

About Alina Denisenko
Alina has been working as a Backend Software Engineer for the last 8 years, 3 of which were at N26. She is on a journey of switching roles, from Senior Software Engineer to Tech Lead. She is a Software Engineer with solid experience in large scale software development, and particularly passionate about software development processes, technologies and security.

Christian Baumann

Cloud Infrastructure Architect , NetApp

Vertically integrated Hybrid Cloud Kubernetes with NetApp
Theme:Coding Society

Kubernetes as a service is rapidly adopted by the enterprise. While in the past, cloud Kubernetes frameworks were either locked into one cloud provider or had no native on-prem offering, this is now changing with NetApp HCI and NetApp Kubernetes Serivce.
About 2 years ago NetApp launched it’s HCI product to converge Storage and Compute into one offering - today NetApp Kubernetes Service allows you not only to deploy a Kubernetes control plane onto major public cloud providers, but also onto the NetApp HCI on-prem hardware offering.
Christian will show you how you can leverage NetApp’s Kubernetes Service not only for cloud but also for Kubernetes on-prem deployments. You will see how you can deploy a Kubernetes cluster in 3 clicks to save time and hassle. Also User management and DevOps workflows will be covered for cloud and on-prem Kubernetes deployments.

About Christian Baumann
Christian Baumann works as an Cloud Infrastructure Architect at NetApp to help customers design modern architectures for on-prem and in cloud deployments. He started out at IBM, quickly learned to love Linux Virtualization and later specialized on OpenStack and Kubernetes before joining NetApp to drive the HCI product forward to benefit customer transformations.

Team & Culture

You want to improve your software product? One of the easiest and hardest ways at the same time is your corporate and team culture. Why easy and hard at the same time? Because human to human interaction sometimes lacks skills,

Coding & Ethics

The rise of AI brought the topic of ethics back to the discussion. But that’s not all. With great power comes great responsibility and computing power can do a lot of harm. Even with good intentions there can be a trade off. Start thinking with the like-minded.

Coding & Education

Engineering culture is inclusive. Computers and the internet allowed users to gain and share knowledge online. Is coding soon as important as knowing how to read and write? We say, that it is already as important.
Let’s create the future together and learn.

Smart World RC1

The world around us is utterly complex. IoT, AI and other technologies allow us to optimise the use of the world around us. A smarter world can drastically improve the quality of life for everybody living in it and push sustainability to a new level. Interested?
